Top 11 Most Expensive CS2 Cases Right Now

Right now, there are 44 weapon cases in Counter-Strike 2, and let's just say their prices are all over the place. Some go for as little as 20 cents, while the most expensive case sells for over $200.

This massive price gap is the result of a complex dance between supply, demand, perceived value, and the pure psychological allure of what might be hiding inside.

But put simply, a case's price comes down to two main things: what skins it contains and how hard it is to get. Most of the time, rarity plays a bigger role. And in CS2, that rarity used to depend on which drop pool the case belonged to:

Active Drop Pool: Still drops regularly when you play. Tons of supply = cheap.
Rare Drop Pool: Very low drop rate (around 1%). Currently disabled as of July 2026.
Discontinued: No longer drops at all. Supply shrinks every time someone opens one.

Rare and discontinued cases have always been the main money-makers. But in mid-December 2025, Valve quietly disabled rare case drops entirely. This means dozens of cases that previously had a small chance to drop are now effectively discontinued. Combined with the October 2025 trade-up contract changes that shook the entire CS2 skin market, case values have seen volatility like never before.

1. CS:GO Weapon Case: $180

Released on August 14, 2013, with The Arms Deal update, the CS:GO Weapon Case was the first-ever case in Counter-Strike history, and it’s the most expensive CS2 case today.

Before the arrival of this case (with its update), there were no official skins, no unboxings, and no rare knives in Counter-Strike. You could say it was literally part of the foundation of the billion-dollar CS skin economy we see today.

The case contains 9 weapon skins and was the first to include knives and rare special items, establishing the 0.26% drop rate that became standard to this very day. Notable contents include the legendary AK-47 Case Hardened (famous for its "Blue Gem" patterns) and AWP Lightning Strike, plus all five original knife types: Bayonet, Flip Knife, Gut Knife, Karambit, and M9 Bayonet.

Fun fact: before the updates, the CS:GO Weapon Case was a rare case with a 0.032% chance of dropping from the Rare Drop Pool, priced at around $130.

After the market crash in October, its price fell to roughly $85 before surging again following December’s discontinued-case shake-up. It peaked at around $220 in late March, but has since cooled off, dropping to $180 now in July 2026.\

Still, the CS:GO Weapon Case remains the most expensive case on the market.

2. Operation Bravo Case: $84

Operation Bravo was the second operation ever, making the Operation Bravo Case another expensive relic from CS:GO's experimental era when Valve was still figuring out how to keep players engaged between major updates. The operation's limited-time nature means the case supply is very limited and every opening removes one forever from circulation.

The standout item is the AK-47 | Fire Serpent, one of the most recognizable skins in CS:GO history. The case contains 15 weapon skins in total, with other notable mentions including the Desert Eagle | Golden Koi, AWP | Graphite, and M4A1-S | Bright Water.

3. eSports 2013 Case: $77

Released on the same day as the CS:GO Weapon Case, the eSports 2013 Case also introduced something revolutionary for its time: using case key sales to fund competitive prize pools. It was the gaming industry's first successful attempt at crowdfunding esports through cosmetic purchases.

Notable skins being the P90 Death by Kitty, AWP BOOM, and AK-47 Red Laminate. Just like the CS:GO Weapon Case, it contains the same five knife types with various finishes.

Its discontinued status combined with its role as the first crowdfunded esports case makes it a collector's dream.

4. Operation Hydra Case: $46

Released May 23rd, 2017, during Operation Hydra, this case was the first operation case to include gloves as rare special items instead of knives.

Operation Hydra also introduced several game modes, the most popular one being Wingman, which now has its own maps, matchmaking, and ranked system.

Operation Hydra Case contains 17 weapon skins, including my favorite AWP skin: the Oni Taij; Besides that it has the Five-SeveN Hyper Beast, plus 24 different glove patterns across 6 glove types.

5. CS:GO Weapon Case 2: $33

Released November 8, 2013, as part of the "Arms Deal 2" update, CS:GO Weapon Case 2 holds the distinction of being the fourth-ever weapon case in the game's history.

Its most coveted items are the SSG 08 | Blood in the Water as the Covert skin and the introduction of the same five original knife skins and finishes as its predecessor.

6. eSports 2013 Winter Case: $22.84

Released December 18, 2013, during the Winter Offensive update, this case suffered from unfortunate timing. Overshadowed by the more popular at that time Winter Offensive Case (released the same day).

The case contains 12 skins including the M4A4 | X-Ray, Desert Eagle | Cobalt Disruption, and AWP | Electric Hive. As for knives it contains the same five original knife models like the other earlier cases that are in this list, with finishes like Fade, Slaughter, and Crimson Web.

As a discontinued case with finite supply, each opening permanently reduces availability. This scarcity, combined with growing nostalgia for early CS:GO aesthetics, has driven steady price appreciation. The case, once nicknamed the “unwanted son” now represents a compelling example of how initial market reception doesn't always predict long-term value.

7. eSports 2014 Summer Case: $20

The eSports 2014 Summer Case, launched July 10, 2014, concluded the original eSports case trilogy while continuing the tournament crowdfunding tradition.

The case's standout piece is the AK-47 | Jaguar. The collection spans diverse design approaches, from the vibrant AWP | Corticera and Nova | Bloomstick to tactical options like the USP-S | Blood Tiger, plus entries in popular series like Crimson Web and Dark Water.

Interestingly, the case faced harsh initial criticism, with players dismissing the designs as lackluster compared to contemporary offerings like the Operation Breakout Case (released just 9 priorly). Terms like "ugly" and "crayon doodles" were common in early forum discussions. However, this perception has completely reversed following the case's discontinuation on January 1, 2015, with what was once criticized is now celebrated as vintage CS:GO design.

8. Glove Case: $19

The Glove Case, as its name, came with what at that time broke the tradition of knife-only exceedingly rare. Introducing 24 unique patterns across six distinct styles: Bloodhound, Driver, Hand Wraps, Moto, Specialist, and Sport.

While some initially criticized the addition as superficial, gloves have proven their staying power. Fun fact, some of the most popular cases ever opened have gloves as rare special items.

The case also features solid weapon skins including the SSG 08 | Dragonfire and M4A4 | Buzz Kill and the FAMAS | Mecha Industries. However, the real draw remains the gloves, with premium pairs like the Sport Gloves | Pandora's Box

Despite still being a fairly pricey case, the Glove Case took its biggest hit after the Sealed Dead Hand Terminal dropped on March 11, 2026, bringing the first new gloves since 2020 and pulling demand away almost instantly, dragging the price down to around $19 as of July 2026.

9. CS:GO Weapon Case 3: $17.48

Released on February 12, 2014, alongside the introduction of the CZ75-Auto, the CS Weapon Case 3 stands out as the only case made entirely of pistol skins.

Its 12-skin collection includes the CZ75-Auto | Victoria, P250 | Undertow, Desert Eagle | Heirloom, and USP-S | Stainless. It also contains the same five original knife models found in other early case.

The CS:GO Weapon Case 3 has often been overlooked, but since the December 2025 rare drop-pool changes mentioned earlier, its value has increased significantly. Now priced at around $17, it has become the ninth-most expensive case in CS2.

10. Winter Offensive Weapon Case: $13.71

Another case that has gained a lot of value in recent months is the Winter Offensive Weapon Case. Released on December 18, 2013, it was the game’s first case to feature user-designed finishes, with 12 community-created skins such as the M4A4 | Asiimov, AWP | Redline, M4A1-S | Guardian, and Sawed-Off | The Kraken.

For a long time, the case traded in the $7–$9 range. However, following the December drop-pool changes, its price climbed sharply, peaking near $22 in March 2026 before cooling to around $13 as of July.

Even after that correction, it now trades above cases like the Huntsman Weapon Case and the Operation Breakout Weapon Case.

11. Operation Riptide Case: $13.13

Despite being one of the "newer" cases when compared with the others on this list (released September 21, 2021), the Operation Riptide Case has shown remarkable price growth.

Its price was usually very close to or even under the eSports 2013 Winter Case, but after the trade-ups, it recovered faster and is now at a higher price due to its highly desirable, exceedingly rare drops.

After moving from Active to Discontinued status on February 21, 2022, it consistently outperformed some older, more established valuable cases.

This trend is driven by valuable rare special items, discontinued status, and growing belief among players that it's one of the best long-term investments in the CS2 case market. Reddit and YouTube communities frequently recommend it as a smart hold.

The most sought-after items are naturally the knives with finishes like Gamma Doppler and Lore, but the case also features 17 community-created weapon skins including the Desert Eagle Ocean Drive, art-inspired AK-47 Leet Museo, and anime-styled M4A4 Spider Lily.
