Will The M14 Be Added To CS2?
For years, the CS2 weapon lineup has remained fairly familiar, and not many changes have been made. However, a new weapon called the M14 rifle has appeared in the CS2 game files and attracted a lot of attention after it was discovered in the September 2026 update. Seeing a completely new rifle appear in the game files immediately got players talking.
In addition, the leaked data includes actual weapon parameters, suggesting Valve has been working on the M14 internally. However, so far Valve has not officially announced that it is coming to the game. So for some time we will be left wondering if the M14 is actually going to be added to CS2. But that doesn't mean we can't speculate. Here is everything we currently know about the leaked M14 rifle, what the game files reveal, and how likely it is that players will eventually get to use it.
What is the M14 In CS2?

Data miners found M14 CS2 leaks in the weapons.vdata file after the recent update. The leaked data includes the weapon parameters and details, which suggest this is more than just a random name sitting in the files of the game. But what does the current information point to? Well, this is what we found.
- Damage: 115 base damage
- Scoped weapon
- Price: $4,100
- Semi-automatic
- Reloads ammunition individually
- Headshot multiplier: 4x
- Armor ratio: 1,95
- Armor penetration: 98%
- Fire rate: ~32 RPM
- Kill reward: $100
- Zoom: One zoom level
- Wall penetration value: 2.5
- Reload type: One shell at a time
- Iron-sight FOV: 75°
However, there is something worth mentioning about the ammunition capacity, as there were some early reports that point to an important discrepancy. Some data-mined information was initially reported as five bullets in the magazine and five spare magazines. On the other hand, another analysis of the game file indicates one bullet per magazine with five spare magazines. Unfortunately, as this is unreleased data, neither of those statements should be treated as final, or even as something to believe in.
M14 Damage and One-Shot Potential

We found out that the most interesting part of the CS2 M14 is its damage. The leaked base M14 CS2 stats show it could be 115, which is almost identical to the current AWP base damage in the game data. Its headshot multiplier is listed as 4x, as mentioned before, producing a theoretical 460 damage before armor and range calculations. So if we assume, at point-blank range, the current data gives:
- 115 body damage without armor
- 112.1 body damage against armor
- 460 headshot damage without armor
- 448.5 headshot damage against armor
Technically, the M14 can kill an armored opponent with one body shot at closer range. The crucial differentiation from the AWP is the M14's 0.945 range modifier, compared to the AWP's 0.99 in the same data set. Damage therefore falls off more quickly with distance.
M14 Reload Time
The files do not simply give us a conventional "reload: X seconds" value. However, they contain something pointing to a possible reload time.
- Reload lockout: 0.4667 seconds
and specifically that the weapon reloads individual shells. A technically focused analysis compared this behavior to Nova and Sawed-Off reload systems and estimated roughly 0.87 seconds to insert the first round after the reload sequence begins. Then it has approximately 2.73 seconds to fill all five rounds, before accounting for the additional weapon timing involved. These are not confirmed reload times, but are based on the information our team found in the files and community-based talk.
Why The M14 Could Be Interesting For CS2
The current values point toward a weapon that is built around high-risk precision shooting, like a combination of the AUG and the AWP. At the price of $4,100, the M14 would sit $650 below the current AWP price, making it a viable option. It would also potentially offer more movement speed while aiming. Additionally, the 1.85-second cycle time and limited ammunition would punish missed shots.
Is The M14 Actually Coming To CS2?
We cannot say this with certainty because we don’t know what Valve devs are doing.
The weapon is not currently playable, and not a lot of content creators are talking about it. And on top of that, Valve’s official September 22-25 update notes do not speak of the M14. On the contrary, its presence in the files is evidence, to some extent, that Valve is at least experimenting with it. But there isn’t a confirmed release date or a confirmation that it will actually be released.
The distinction is important, as we already know that the M14 exists in the game files and that it has detailed gameplay parameters.
For now, we continue to wonder and perhaps hope that some diversity could be brought to CS2.
