All CS2 Ancient Map Callouts You Need to Know
Ancient was added to Counter-Strike on December 3, 2020 with the Operation Broken Fang update. It's a jungle-themed map with lots of elevation changes and tight corridors that make it pretty difficult for new players.
The dense vegetation and multiple levels mean you need to know your angles and coordinate very closely with your team. And of course, since communication is the foundation of good teamwork, understanding callouts like "Ruins" when your teammates mention them is mandatory.
This guide covers all the main callouts for Ancient so you can communicate better with your team and improve your plays on both sites.
Spawns & Surroundings

T-Side areas
On Ancient, if you're playing as the Terrorists, you've got a bunch of ways to go and and many spots to use for different strategies.
Right from your starting point (T-Spawn), you can go through the narrow tunnels, the open ruins, or up high to places like Heaven and Ramp.
Understanding these spots first is needed for working together on attacks, controlling different areas, and taking over bomb sites.

- T-Spawn – Terrorist starting area, with exits to Tunnel and Split.

- Tunnel – Passage from T-Spawn to Water, often used for B pushes or Mid approaches.
- Water – Between Tunnel and Ruins: a watery corridor.

- Ruins – Open area after Water; includes boxes for cover and leads to Doors/Ramp.
- Doors – Double doors connecting Ruins to Ramp.

- T Lower – Lower elevation between Ramp and connectivity to Heaven.
- Ramp – Place connecting Ruins with B-Site, often used by Ts for pushes.

- Heaven – The elevated area that links T Lower with Lamp Room and Mid. It’s often used by Terrorists for a mid split, especially when teammates are pushing simultaneously from the Elbow.
- Lamp Room – The connector between Heaven and Dark, acting as a tight transition zone often contested during B-site pushes or rotations.
- Window – A small space connecting Mid with Heaven.

- Split – Junction near T-Spawn leading toward Elbow and Stairs.
- Stairs – Connects Split to A Halls.
CT-Side areas
Ancient gives CTs good spots to defend and lets them reach the bombsites fast. With routes like CT Lane, Temple, and Alley, they can quickly move to stop attacks and keep control of important spots.

- CT-Spawn – Counter-Terrorist starting area, with rotation routes to A and Mid.

- Temple – Passage from CT-Spawn to A-Site.
A-Site
A-Site on Ancient is a cramped bombsite that can get super intense. There are many ways to get in and many spots to hide. Since people can come at you from A Main, Short, and A Halls, you gotta be on the same page with your team and know the map well, whether you're attacking or defending.
Knowing the callouts, like Boost, Big Box, and Triple Box, is super important if you want to hold the site, take it without a mess, or set up after you plant the bomb.

- A-Site – The orange-toned A bombplant zone.
- Triple Box – Three stacked boxes at the back of A-Site offering plant protection.
- CT Lane – Area connecting CT-Spawn to A-Site for quick rotations.

- Plat – Elevated platform corner adjacent to A-Site.
- Single – Narrow crate beside Plat near A-Site.
- Big Box – Large container near A-Site for cover.
- Boost – Spot next to Long used by CTs for boosting into A-Site.

- A Halls – Corridor connecting Stairs to A Main, used for flanking or lurk plays.
- A Main – Leading path into A-Site via Long.
- Long – A main entry route from A Main toward A-Site, often checked for Boost.
Mid
Mid is vital on Ancient because it connects sites A and B. If you control Mid, you can go for flanks or split attacks. Spots like Snipers Nest give you high ground, Xbox is great for boosts, and Elbow and Pit have tight corners for fast plays.

- Xbox – Refers to the pair of crates positioned in Mid. Players can use them to boost up and gain access to Heaven from Mid.
- Pit – Location opposite to Short Tunnels in Mid—often used for cover.

- Mid – Central area between Elbow and A/B rotations.
- Elbow – Corner between Split and Mid; commonly used in mid-splits.

- Snipers Nest – Elevated double-door area ideal for Mid control.
- Top Mid – Stairs connecting Mid to Snipers Nest.

- Donut/Tunnels – Circle area that connects Mid with Short.
- Short – One of the two main entry points for Terrorists into A-Site. It provides a direct route but is harder to push through without support from Long, making coordination essential.
B-Site
B-Site on Ancient is small and easier to defend. It's got some narrow spots to get through, which makes it challenging to push. If you're on the attacking side, you need to work together and use your grenades and stuff at the right time. Spots like House, Lamp Room, and Back Halls are good for getting control or sneaking around.
For the defenders, holding down spots like Pillar and Square is key to stopping the attackers from planting or retaking. Knowing the names of these spots makes it way easier to call out plays and react fast when things get hectic.

- B-Site – Main bomb planting area for Ts on B-Site.
- Dark – A narrow passage between the Lamp Room and House, featuring a small cubby where CTs often hide to catch unsuspecting Terrorists off guard.
- House – Area between Lamp Room and B-Site, tough entry chokepoint.

- Default – Place where the bomb is usually placed.
- Pillar - A pillar on B-Site.
- Back Halls – Passage behind B-Site connecting to Alley.
- Square – Structure between Back Halls and B-Site—offers alternative approaches.
- Alley – Path from CT-Spawn to Back Halls.
